application framework

I was told by another developer that the applicaiton framework that is bundled
with VFP 7.0 is inferior to most frameworks. I found with modest modifications
the framework to work quite well.
Any opinions ??

Are you talking about the Tastrade framework? I've been using a modified
version of this framework in 15 or so different apps during the past 6
years.

Few people have truly spent enough time with the native VFP framework to
really have a say about it.

If you get to know it, it's a robust basic framework. It doesn't have the
support that a 3rd party framework might have, but it's certainly usable.

To get you thinking about framework features, there's some info on
commercial frameworks at
http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~FrameworkFeatureChart. Please note, this
site will be down for about a week until the owner gets back from a ski
trip.

For small apps that deal with local data, the framework built upon the ffc
is fine. Once you get into specialized needs, security, server based data,
etc, the framework that ships with VFP is not well suited to the task.

Finally, let your experience be your guide. If it works for you, then it is
a good framework...
