You are making the assumption that Netscape are kind enough to expose their
interfaces for people like you to use. Netscape have no interest in
allowing grubby little programmers reuse their beautiful cross-platform
statically linked code, whilst Microsoft have all the reason in the world to
want you to reuse their enormous DLLs.
I could be wrong, but I think that, at least, the Wininet.dll library comes
with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4/2000. In which case, you can reuse this
via the Microsoft Internet Transfer Control which comes with VB5 and VB6.
Of course, if you want to browser specific stuff, you are pretty much alone,
unless Netscape have created some sort of hook into their browser. In fact,
why don't you take yourself off to www.netscape.com, and search through
their developer pages. Let's face it, they'll be desperate for someone to
visit their lousy "portal" site.

# 13 Re: How do I use INET for a Netscape browser
Tuan -
I do not consider myself at all an expert on Netscape, but I am interested
in what you are trying to do with it using VB. Maybe you could do what you
want easier in JavaScript, or even Java.
Alternatively, if you haven't already done so, you could try posting on
another dev-archive Newsgroup (there are a couple of internet ones, I believe).
Personally, I am always shocked that some people don't realise that "The
Browser War" has been won - by Microsoft! I mean, how can anybody expect
that Netscape could win when the majority of consumer users have "IBM
Compatible" PCs, and Explorer comes free with Windows 95/98 which they are
forced by necessity to buy. Wouldn't you be better off trying to convince
your clients that they are sticking themselves in a technological rut with
Netscape, and go for Internet Explorer? Whilst 4.x ran like a sick dog, 5.x
is actually a very good piece of (free) software.

# 14 Re: How do I use INET for a Netscape browser
Tuan -
I do not consider myself at all an expert on Netscape, but I am interested
in what you are trying to do with it using VB.
