Who have experience on cell phone navigation
Hey guys... probably not the best place to put my question but I am kind of new to the whole "forum" thing and I thought you could help me? I am looking for GPS navigation software for my mobile phone and I found a company on the internet called nav4all. The thing is that some friends of mine are already using another company called tomtom, but for which you have to pay, which is not very possible for me. I want to ask if anyone has used the software of nav4all before and if it safe, before i install it on my phone. Could I also get a virus like that?

Nav4all is only free for a trial period. After a few months you will have to cough up a few bucks for a subscription of some type.
You should always be wary of companies whose business model is to offer their core product entirely, indefinitely for free. You should understand how they do make their money before you start using their products. That is not to say that everything free is bad--not at all. Just that you need to take a few minutes to understand what you *give* in order to get something for free. Too often the price that you pay is your privacy and/or spyware.
However, doesn't look like that's the case here. Nav4all looks fine to me.

My privacy, how exactly can they get that from me? But, thanks for your tips, and as for the subscription fee, I heard it's only 10 Euros per year for its European users, however, we also have to pay for the GPRS fee, but that's pretty cheap in US, sometimes, I even wondering, how can that company make a profit?

Often a company that is letting you use a product for free, does so on the condition that you provide some personal information, which is often sold to third parties for direct mail and other purposes. Keep in mind that most companies do this in a completely legitimate way: It's not illegal to sell personal information (so long as you don't lie about it), and media companies (for one) have been doing so for 50 years. But the range of ethicality with which companies undertake to sell information runs the gamut so it's worthwhile to consider the size, reputation, and the investors backing a company before you decide to exchange data for product.
Among the more nefarious scenarios is a spyware situation where you get a "rider" with your software download that collects personal information and watches you browse the Internet and sells or brokers that information to third parties.
If the price seems very low to you, the company may be subsidizing a low price by including advertising in the product. A navigation solution is a perfect fit to accept advertising. As you use the product to tell you where to go, local businesses can try to grab your attention through your navigation service. That sort of advertising is pretty harmless and usually provides a valuable trade-off to the consumer.
