Suggestions Please
Lets present a hypothetical situation (well maybe not so hypothetical):
I have a subnet with live users. The subnet is connected to a not-so-trusted network and is not firewalled in anyway from that untrusted network. The users need SMTP, POP, and http externally, and some internal protocals are used also like smb etc.
Lets say i have $4000 to spend to increase security...
what would you suggest as a starting point both as far as some hardware (some firwall gateway etc) and some place to read up on what it would take to implement?
Thanks

Nowadays most protections is digitaly configured without need of hardware ..
Nothink is perfect ; u may have a version of a good "small busines protection sloution"
many times it's called "pc protection suite" and like that , it usually containes firewall, antispam , POP/SMTP protection , antivirus , antispy and many other feautures , "digitally solved as I told u" only compare between most knowen protection software .
P.s. I think u wont need those 4000$ it's much lower than this, or u may have too many computers and u want too many licences , maybe .
