BREW file sharing

Hello all,

I was wondering what capability BREW phone app's have when it comes to file sharing? Specifically I was thinking of making 2 games that share the same character profile, but making the games separate applications, and therefore able to be more detailed because of greater resource availability. Can BREW applications just save files to a local space and then read them, or do I have to upload the information to some kind of server to do this?

Thanks for any help or for pointing me to documents that I missed (either on this site or elsewhere).

BREW apps can access files, but file I/O support is mostly a matter of hardware suuport. For example, in devices that have SIM cards you can have something similar to a file hierarchy. So in essence, you have to check the hardware first. BREW supports file I/O if the underlying device supports its.

Ok, so if the hardware supports it, my app should be able to do it you are saying. And documentation or other articles you can point me to so I can learn about this stuff a bit more (I have been having trouble getting a hold of good guides and documentation for BREW myself)?

Also, I was searching for more info after posting this article in case I messed something and after about 3 more hours of searching I heard about some kind of shared directory in BREW that apps can use. Anyone know if this is true, a recent addition to BREW, or something only on a small set of phones?

Again thanks to whoever can help me out.
