I am taking over a project and the previous developer created the SQL tables for login/membership/etc on his local machine. I am trying to change the app to create/access the tables from the server where these and other tables pertinent to the app should reside. When I try to get into the security tab I get an error stating:

"There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database. ".

I tried running the Aspnet_regsql tool pointing to the server, but I still get the same error. Is the admin tool still looking for the local DB? Do I need to start over or is there a way to change to the server from the local DB? I've looked for articles and tutorials, but they all either use the local DB or go straight into the server DB, not changiong from one to the other.
