Hi everyone, im taking the leap from VB6 over to vb2005, and im curious about something...

My current program does this...

Client wants to login, so the client app contacts 1 server ( running linux with MySQL ) and checks username and password...once approved to login it then makes a connection to a windows based server for the app to function.

i am wondering.. if i use vb2005 and on my server run SQL2005, would it be better to have the client app connect to the windows server directly, have the serverside check the database and run it that way through VB2005's equal to winsock? Thanks so much for any advise i can get!

My goal is to speed up the database queries. im hoping this will make things better.
