Recommendations: Convert HTM to XML, PHP or Other Format When Updating Web Sites

I've been on the web since 1979 and started creating my own sites for my small businesses since 1991. I've experienced learning curves while using Adobe PageMill and then FrontPage, tried HTML Kit, and now I'm considering switching to a new software.

I love spending the time on my sites but I also have to earn a living (dang, sure was born into the wrong family). So...I'd like to make revisions to my site but I'd like to know which direction to move towards regarding coding my pages.

I want to provide security and aesthetically pleasing pages while increasing requests for my mortgage services in Florida. But, I also want to limit the learning curve for a new coding system but also allowing me to update and improve my site with the least amount of effort, now and in the future.

What is in the future for php, xml, htm, asp and other coding? Which would be the best solution for me and others dabbling in keeping their own sites moving forward?

You can take a peek at my site to see where I am now relative to my design and maintenance abilities at web - mtg .com
