Developer from downunder - what are my chances?

I don't have a green card but do have good experience as a developer. I have
a Computer Science degree, 12+ years experience using Access (1 to 2000),
VB (4 to 6), SQL Server (6.5 to 2000) and in the last 18 months ASP/VBScript/JScript
and OLAP Services (MDX, ADOMD, ADO).

I don't want to take jobs away from local skilled workers but is there any
chance that a corporation would sponsor me for project work stateside (say
3 or 6 months)? Has anyone heard of this sort of thing happening in their
company?

Thanks,
GR

Your skills are very marketable in the US, but it is highly unlikely that a
company would go to the time and expense of sponsoring you for a visa for
such a short period of time. You would need to look at a minimum of 12
months for them to justify their investment in you. Have a look at some of
the job sites like monster.com, computerjobs.com and dice.com. They list
jobs that will sponsor you for a visa, and you can then contact the
companies that match your skills and see what minimum contract they would
offer.
